"The Gradually Stirred Up Waves"

Installation 2024   Variable size
Materials: Ants, acrylic, light blue gel (availablefor ants), surveillance camera, projector, soundsystemThe work consists of two parts: Ant Incubator,Real-Time Monitoring, and AudienceBlue gel is placed in an ant incubator, and anentire ant colony (including the queen) is placedinside. After a month of incubation, the ants digholes in the gel and deposit excess gel debrison the surface. Due to the highly social natureof the ant colony, the blue gel gradually formsinto miniature "waves."The work is live-monitored and projected nearthe incubator. When v iewer s enter themonitoring area, they can observe the ants'changing state due to their presence, becomingmore agitated and flustered. At this point, another "wave crest" forms due tothe audience's observation, which graduallycalms down after the audience leaves.

"Ants" are fully social creatures. They are like every point that makes up a network, connected and integrated through pheromones

In the process of cultivating ants, the seeds thatwere originally food sprouted.

We observe ants from a so-called macroscopic perspective, while examining ourselves with a locally magnifiedconsciousness within the network of human relationships.
